Course Objectives
Design involves the strategic arrangement of forms and shapes within a given space to achieve a specific purpose. It is about harmonising different elements with the available space, creating a visually pleasing and balanced composition. Through the use of various articles, objects, and shapes, designers establish relationships that are aesthetically appealing to the viewer.
In this module, students will explore the fundamental concepts of design, including its core elements and the principles that contribute to effective design. The course is designed to cultivate an artist's sense of arrangement, movement, and visual harmony, helping them to create well-balanced and engaging compositions.
Desired outcome of the course In this module, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of design concepts. They will learn how to draw inspiration from natural objects and their surroundings to create original designs. Students will explore various types of designs and their applications in everyday life, delving into the qualities of lines, shapes, and forms, and how these elements interact when placed in proximity. This knowledge will enable them to develop an intuitive sense of balance and rhythm in their designs.
