Course Objectives

1. To develop skill and understand desizing of textiles.
2. To develop skill and understand scouring of textiles.
3. To develop skill on determination of strength of beaching solution.
4. To develop skill on bleaching of textile and find out whiteness index
5. To develop skill dyeing on cotton with direct dyes and study of dyeing machines. Experiments (any 10)
6. Desizing of cotton fabric using various types of desizing agents and determine %desizing loss.
7. Scouring of natural fibres viz. cotton in form of yarn or fabric and find the scouring loss.
8. Scouring of wool fibre/ yarn and determine %weight loss.
9. Degumming of silk yarn/fabric and calculation of %weight loss.
10. Bleaching of cotton yarn/fabric by sodium Hypochlorite and determine whiteness index.
11. Determination of available chlorine of sodium hypochlorite.
12. Bleaching of cotton yarn/fabric by sodium Chlorite and determine whiteness index.
13. Bleaching of cotton yarn/fabric by hydrogen peroxide and determine whiteness index.
14. Bleaching of silk yarn/fabric by sodium hydrosulphite and determine whiteness index.
15. Dyeing of Cotton fabric/yarn with Direct Dyes.
16. Study of carrier type yarn dyeing machine
17. Study of HTHP yarn dyeing machine

Course Outcomes

At the end of the course students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate practicals on desizing of textiles
2. Demonstrate skill on scouring of textiles
3. Select required chemicals for bleaching of textiles
4. Apply usage of dyeing machines in processing
5. Apply appropriate techniques for application of direct dyes on textiles
