Course Outcomes: After completion of this course the student will be able to:
CO1. Illustrate Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), encompassing raster, vector, and point cloud data.
CO2. Explain DEM acquisition techniques, including photogrammetry, satellite interferometry, and LiDAR, along with preprocessing steps like filtering, resampling, and mosaicking.
CO3. Apply DEM technology to forest and water applications.
CO4. Explore urban applications of DEMs, focusing on urban and regional planning, land use planning, urban growth monitoring, transportation system studies, and slum detection.
CO5. Understand the role of DEMs in disaster management, with a focus on GIS applications in risk assessment, mitigation, and preparedness for disasters.
